Bad hair day. Maybe. Maybe Not :)

July 01st, 2008 | Category: kl lifestyle, party

Monday night was indeed very eventful. Didn’t expect the night to end it the way it did and I was told more than half of my colleagues were totally wasted by 10pm. It was our company Year End Bash and everyone was invited to free food and free flow of drinks at The Apartment in KLCC from 530pm onwards till late.

I had a business meeting with the founder of Nuffnang, Tim, earlier  in the evening and by the time we finished and got to the place, all the food was emptied and all they had on offer was drinks. :S

When it comes to company party, these folks are serious drinkers. I mean seriously, it’s hard to get away from it. Imagine one director came up with his/ her glass of wine and cheer you for a great year well done and you don’t really take no for an answer. So you both drink up. And then multiply that by another 7 or 8 times. I was topped with Chardonnay on an empty stomach throughout the night and it was tad too late before I realized intoxication level had gone slightly overboard.

Just to give you an idea how crazy the night went. :D

Tyson was one of the many culprits last night.

As a result, my wonderful peers decided that it wouldn’t be such a good idea to let me drive home. So Yutz and I checked ourselves into Trader’s Hotel to bunk in for the night.

The next day, with this mega hangover I decided not to go in work and pulled a sickie  instead.

If you’d noticed the frizzes of my hair, you’d know what I mean. I need a haircut badly!

Soho, located in Pamper Level @ Starhill, recommended by Yutz’s mum. We decided to give it a try.

The experience was very pleasant, service was excellent and most importantly the shampoo boy gives really good scalp massage, which is exactly what I need to alleviate the hangover headache.

Viola! We feel like those hair products commercial models. :D So we started camwhoring away.

:D

Wow my face look super slim in this photo after Jay the hairdresser did some magic to my hair. So must post here. :D

Don’t we look like those Japanese students camwhoring at the busiest street?

Jarrods & Rawlins Breakfast

May 25th, 2008 | Category: kl lifestyle, restaurant

Went to Jarrods & Rawlins for brunch on a lazy Sunday afternoon few weekends ago.

Many bloggers have reviewed the place before so I’ll save it for another time.

Hearty American Breakfast Special ( RM37 ++)
Comes with Orange Juice & a choice of Coffee/ Tea

With the price paid, I was expecting highly of their food but it turned out a tad bit disappointing. Orange juice was concentrated. Bacon was cold and the portion of bake beans is so pathetically small ( 2 spoonful at most?). I asked for more bake beans and they came with another 2 more spoonful.  An additional Rm6 was added to the bill.

I miss Cafe 55 English brekkie during those good ol’ Liverpool days! They were cheap and yummy ~

However, that Sunday was packed with foreigners & expats at J & R. But how could I tell? Coz as far as I know, Worchestershire and HP Brown sauce are only found common among the Brits. Malaysian would be asking for sambal chilli instead no? :D

Well if you are willing to pay for the relaxing ambience, I guess it’s worth going. And I’ll still give them the benefits of the doubt that some day when I become rich, I shall return for their fine dining dishes.

LOCATION: No.6, Lorong Dungun,
Damansara Heights,
50480 Kuala Lumpur.

TEL: 03-20930708

I’ll be totally tied up with work in the next few days. Sigh… can’t wait for this to be over. You guys have a good week ahead!

Wacky Concert @ Neway Karaoke

May 21st, 2008 | Category: kl lifestyle, weekend
Just back from gym. Haven’t been on a treadmill for quite some time ever since I’ve discovered LesMill classes are much more fun & exciting than those boring machines.

Fortunately, the “char kuey tiao” at Little Penang this afternoon and the warm chocolate cake that I had at Bakerzin this evening was my main motivation to stay focused on the treadmill for 40 minutes.
Tip to all gym goer girls: Never wear wired bra when you are running on treadmill!

————————————————-

For those who know me know that karaoke has never really been my cuppa tea. I’m a tone deaf remember? I’m serious. I can be a mad toilet singer and all that but I can’t never really get the tunes right. Not my fault or anything, just that it runs in the gene. :D

But two weekends ago I was so bored out of my wits and yet refused to stay at home watching Bridget Jones for the umpteenth time on a Saturday night… To hell with it, I got some of my colleagues who were just as bored as me to paint the town red and opened a concert at Neway One Utama! :D

 Â

Introducing some of my very cool colleagues, Yutz, Victor and PohSze

We were given the biggeset room which can accomodate up to 50 people. But there was only 9 of us in that freezer!

 Â

Okay, despite my tone deafness, I still made an attempt to entertain the crowd. Ahem, no one actually laughed at me okay :p

Michael the great singer. Could have gone for Malaysian Idol already if wasn’t his age :D

Everyone had fun and were hogging the mic the whole time even though they said they weren’t going to sing.

 Â Â Â Â

The night ended around 4am but I think I zonked out on the couch much earlier.

The Courtyard Garden KL

April 28th, 2008 | Category: fine and dine, kl lifestyle, restaurant

I was pampered at The Courtyard Garden to celebrate life two weeks ago.

A little bungalow converted restaurant quietly tucked somewhere in Damansara Heights. Ambience was not too bad, but could have been better though if there wasn’t some parties going on which kinda disrupted our supposedly “candlelit” moment.
 Â
Menu selections are a range of fine fusion cuisine dishes. Funny though that they served papadum as starters. And to top things up, the party/ crowd that night was majority Indian so at first glance we thought it was a high class Indian Restaurant with a tweak of fusion charm!

But to give it some benefits of the doubt, it could be the timing that was just wrong. I wasn’t in the most jovial state that night and they could have pre-informed us about the party when we rang up to book the table. The whole experience was just a little disappointing.

Food was alright. The mango sauce in the salmon dish was a tad bit too sweet; the Thai Seafood dish was heavily tomyam spiced; and we thought the starter was those real escargots in shells but instead it came out as pastries.

The restaurant got noisier with the party outside and we left the place as soon as we finished our wine and main course.

YogaZone

April 24th, 2008 | Category: fitness, kl lifestyle, yoga

Yoga wave seems to have engulfed my office lately. Everyone seems to be into yoga as if it’s the hippest thing in town! I’m no where near  a hardcore yogi but I usually try not to miss my-once-a-week yoga routine at the Fitness First.

With the one week trial pass to the much hyped about YogaZone, I’ve been maximizing the usage by camping there almost every evening. hehe… Indeed, love it love it loving it! The teachers are very talented, very professional, and not to mention good looking too. ;) So far I’ve only attended their hot and element classes. My fav has always been hot yoga coz they really make you sweat buckets and feel much more energized thereafter.

Anyway, don’t think I’ll be joining their membership at this point as I’m already a Fitness First member. Perhaps one fine day… I’ve got this dream of becoming a yoga instructor after my retirement some day…

* Don’t laugh, it’s not a sin to dream okay! :P*

The Basil Leaf

April 21st, 2008 | Category: kl lifestyle, restaurant

Last week, all of us felt that we needed some teensy treat to keep our sanity intact from the all the hectic work. Mesh suggested to go for some sawadeekaa lunch somewhere off Jln. Tun Razak.

I had no idea where this place is as it seemed pretty far off somewhere in Jalan Ampang. But once we reached, we were instantly rejuvenated by the soothing sound of fountain water and the beautifully InchoChine inspired landscaped garden. Lots of greeneries surrounding the restaurant and with its cozy ambience, it felt like a short escapade from the hustle and bustle of KL city and yet, it’s only 10 minutes away from our KLCC office.

How convenient isn’t it ;)

The entrance of The Basil Leaf Restaurant

The orange themed decor somehow made us all in a cheery mood

We seemed to have over ordered our food as we struggled to finish them in the end. But all the dishes were very yummylicious. Their tomyam is one of the best I’ve tasted in KL so far.

It’s been a while since we get together to catch up despite seeing each other everyday… only if we weren’t so drowned in work… It’s all about finding a little balance from within.

All of us had our own little reason to celebrate and also a little secret to spill.

What a great way to chase away the Monday blues!

We will definitely revisit the restaurant again sometime in the near future should we need another rejuvenated lunch again.

Califonia Pizza Kitchen

April 20th, 2008 | Category: friends, kl lifestyle, restaurant

Okay enough of depressive entries. I’m pretty drained now.
Let’s talk about something happy…

YES! Yummy food and loving friends! :D

Can’t live without them, can we?

Von has blogged about our weekend lunchie on her webbie so I’m not gonna repeat it. Check hers out!

Three workaholics who cherish every moment they could have together everytime they meet. Our paths have once crossed one another but what’s being left with is the priceless friendship. ;)

Califonia Pizza Kitchen is yummy! Good place to go with colleagues or friends if you are in KLCC. Quite pricey though but for the ocassion such as reunion like this, it makes it all worthwhile ;-)

RAW @ Solaris, Mt. Kiara

March 15th, 2008 | Category: kl lifestyle, weekend

As I walked out of the gym around 8pm last night, the entire Laundry & its surrounding area was jam packed with people. The stage was there and Colby’s songs were clearly audible. But she wasn’t there yet - only the MCs were there hyping up the crowd. I didn’t wait for Colby as I had to rush to get a cake and then off to Mt. Kiara to meet my friends.

~

RAW is a newly opened bar in Mt. Kiara which we went to check out last night for Alan’s birthday drinks. Quite a happening place with classy decor but the black beat music wasn’t really our cuppa tea so we sat outside chatting over a few jugs of beer.

~

They say life starts when you turn thirty. Happy birthday Alan!

Colby Caillat @ The Curve tonight

March 14th, 2008 | Category: entertainment, kl lifestyle, weekend

Colby Caillat is in town!

.

IF you want to catch a glimpse of this talented and sweet 22 year old US artiste, she’ll be at Laundry @ The Curve for a showcase tonight. It’s surely going to be a mad crowd with fans and weekenders and furthermore you’ll need a ticket to get in. But heck, you can always sit somewhere nearby Laundry right? Might pop by if I get lucky.

 .

Love her two recent hits - Realize and Bubby.

Traffic Jam

March 13th, 2008 | Category: corporate slave, kl lifestyle

It feels so good to be able to drive to work again! But one thing I don’t get it, Jln Kuching has been so heavy traffic even after 930pm for 3 consecutive days.

.

Election aftermath :?:

.

Hate traffic jam especially after a long tiring day. Moreso when you’ve had a scrubbing meeting from 2pm -730pm and you are so brain dead that all you could think of is your cozy warm bed. But the bumper to bumper just wasn’t too encouraging. Took me 45 mins to reach home!

.

But on a brighter side,  I’m so glad that weekend is around the corner again! :)
